How to make your horse fitter

How to make your horse fitter

My pony/horse could use more power when I ride him. How can I make sure that he becomes fitter?

When selecting feed, you should take your horse’s temperament into account. If a horse has always been slow, perhaps he is slow by nature. You cannot change the character of the horse.

If a horse is less fit than usual, you should check the balance of energy, protein, minerals and vitamins and the composition of the feed. Slightly more fast energy in the form of oats or concentrate combined with training can make the horse livelier. A concentrate with fast energy is Energy Classic, a grains mix with oats. This grains mix contains sufficient energy for horses that have to show top performance or do well in endurance riding.

In addition to proper feeding, make sure that you alternate the training sufficiently. Give him some time off once in a while and do not demand too much.

All horses and ponies are different. If you need any personal advice please contact us about feeding of Hartog products. It is also possible to calculate the feed ration for your horse or pony with Hartog Feeding advice.
